Description

This lovely red bird is a male Pine Grosbeak. He has a partner (I painted her a week-or-so-ago) and she is a lovely gold color. The two birds make a perfect pair. I really enjoyed staring at the female Pine Grosbeak as I finished the male. I was excited when I realized the the red and gold plus the blue of the sky made these pieces primarily focused on the primary colors. Like I said – they make a perfect pair:)

This series of mini bird paintings is practice for my larger pieces featuring birds, and a way to build up my still-life skills with the pinecones collected from around my yard. The works also reminds me of warmer days when there were more birds to watch. Winter has it’s own charm but I do miss my bird friends so I am filling up my studio with their portraits. If you also love the birds pick up one of these sweet pieces for yourself or someone you love🐦
