Description

It is a good time of year to observe black capped chickadees especially in the Northwoods. I see them all around my yard enjoying seeds and picking at bark on the red pines, presumably digging for stuff to eat. They make for sweet companions and are lovely singers, well worth the watch if you happen to see one hopping around your yard.

This series of mini bird paintings is practice for my larger pieces featuring birds, and a way to build up my still-life skills with the pinecones collected from around my yard. The works also reminds me of warmer days when there were more birds to watch. Winter has it’s own charm but I do miss my bird friends so I am filling up my studio with their portraits. If you also love the birds pick up one of these sweet pieces for yourself or someone you love🐦
